Tâm trung chữ hiếu niệm đầu chữ nhân
Hiếu là độ được đấng thân
Nhân là cứu vớt trầm luân muôn loài.
Thần thông nghìn mắt nghìn tay
Cũng trong một điểm linh đài mà ra
Rằng trong bể nước Nam ta
Chùa Hương có đức Phật bà Quan Âm”.
Chùa Hương thuộc xã Hương sơn, huyện Mỹ đức, thủ đô Hà Nội. Đây là một quần thể Di tích Phật giáo Đại thừa gồm 18 chùa, đền, hang động…vv với điểm chính là động Hương tích. Nơi đây được danh xưng là Đạo tràng của Bồ tát Quán Thế Âm.
Hình ảnh Bồ tát Quán âm hiện hữu khắp các địa danh của Thánh tích chùa Hương, đặc biệt là tại động Hương tích, nơi đây hiện tôn trí pho tượng Bồ tát Quán thế âm toạ sơn, chất liệu bằng đá xanh được tạc cách đây đã lâu. Đây là một trong 32 hoá thân của Bồ tát Quán thế âm. Tượng có dáng người thon, mặt trái xoan-kim diện mãn nguyệt, cổ cao ba ngấn, đầu đội mũ Tỳ lư, sau lưng có hai nọn tóc buông xuống, y áo được tạo hình mềm mại sống động. Toà ngồi là một bệ đá ma nhai. Chân trái đặt lên đoá sen nở, chân phải co lên,tư thế hai chân ngồi dáng ung dung tự tại. Tay phải cầm viên ngọc Như ý. Dưới chân là bông hoa sen, lá sen toả ra mềm mại như có gió lay động. Theo giới Mỹ thuật nhận định: Đây là pho tượng bảo thạch thuần Việt, Bồ tát tướng quý nhân hiếm thấy tại các Thánh tích Phật giáo nước ta.Đẹp về phong cách mỹ thuật Phật giáo; linh thiêng mầu nhiệm nhất tại các cổ động Việt nam.
Đất trời Hương sơn không chỉ đẹp ở chiều dài ngút ngát như Hoành sơn, ở chiều cao vời vợi như Lạp sơn Hy Mã, mà còn đẹp ở lòng người khi hành hương về cõi tâm linh dấu Phật. Cho nên người xưa nói: “Núi không cao thì cảnh chẳng kỳ, đường không dài thì lòng người khôn tỏ”. Hơn nữa,đây lại là dấu tích của đức Quan âm thị hiện. Hành trình về Hương sơn là trở về cội nguồn của từ bi và tri tuệ. Bởi lẽ Bồ tát Quán âm trong kinh Pháp hoa đã được Việt hoá hoàn toàn thành Quán âm Nam hải hay Phật bà chùa Hương. Hình ảnh một đức Phật hoá thân đến cuộc đời và sống trong đời để hoá độ chúng sinh qua biểu tượng một bà mẹ là hoàn toàn hợp duyên thích ứng với nền văn hoá Việt nam./.

AVALOKITESVARA BODDHISATTVA STATUE IN HUONG TEMPLE
“Truth of Buddhism is very mysterious. Inner mind is filial piety, humanity is the first memorable thing.
Filial means to convert parents and the relatives. Humanity is the vow to save all sentient beings and species.
Mysterious transformation of Avolokitesvara Boddhisattva is shown through thousand eyes thousand hands.
All these things come out of a wonderful thing: there is Avalokitesvara Buddha at Huong temple in the sea of Vietnamese country.”
Huong Temple is located in Huong Son Commune, My Duc District, Hanoi Capital. This is a population of Mahayana Buddhist relics including 18 pagodas, temples, caves … with the main point is the Huong Tich Cave. This is popularly known as the training place of the Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva
The Quan Yin Bodhisattva picture exist in all famous places of the holy relics of Huong temple, especially at the Huong cave where the statue of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva is worshiped with the mountain sitting shape. This statue is carved by green stone material long time ago. This is one of 32 reincarnations of the Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. The statue has a slim figure, the moon face ( full moon golden face) and three talon high neck. The head is covered by Vajachana hat. The back has two beats of hair let down. The robe is shaped soft and lively. The court sit is an emery stone pedestal.
The left leg is placed on the blossom lotus, the right leg is upward, the two legs sit in at ease position. Right hand hold the pearl as well. Under his feet are lotus flowers, lotus leaf radiates soft as the wind shakes. According to the appraisal of Artists: “This is a gemstone statue of pure Vietnamese, the noble Bodhisattva is rarely in Buddhist relics at our country. The statue is beautiful in Buddhist art style and the most sacred mystery in the oldest caves at Vietnam”.
The sky of Huong Son is not only beautiful in the length as Hoanh Son and in height as Himalayas, but also beautiful in the heart of pilgrimage when they go to worship at spiritual realm of the Buddha. So the ancient people said that: “The mountain is not high, the scene is not amazing; the road is not long then it is hard to know the heart of others”. Moreover, this is the mark of the appearance of Quan Yin Boddhisattva. Therefore the journey to Huong Son is back to the root of Compassion and Wisdom.
The Bodhisattva Quan Yin in Dharma flower Sutra( Saddharma pundarika sutra) has been completely Vietnamese as Vietnamese Avalokitesvara Boddhisattva or Quan Yin Buddha of Huong temple. The image of a Buddha who incarnate and exist in life and spend whole life in the world to transform sentient beings through the symbol of a mother is perfectly suited to the culture of Vietnam./.
